I usually only see the America Painted Lady a few times early each spring as it lays its eggs on my Pearly Everlasting plants (Anaphalis margaritacea).  It visited my garden much more often in 2003, and was a frequent visitor in 2004.  I saw two of them together for the first time last year.  In the pictures at left, one butterfly has light patches between the spots on its forewing tips, and the other one doesn't.  What's up with that?
