Pearly Crescentspot

Pearly Crescentspot

The Pearly Crescentspot usually shows up once a year in my garden.  It flies low to the ground, and doesn't hang around a long time.  There are two types of Pearly Crescentspot, types A and B, which may actually be two distinct species.  The one pictured at top is a female of unknown type.  And if you're wondering, it doesn't have a tail.  That's just a dried piece of grass.  I have absolutely no idea what the other one is.  Its markings are slightly different, and has larger crescents on its hindwing.  It has some wing damage, and a piece of grass obstructs part of the picture.  Both of these pictures were taken in a field next to Helyar Woods near the Rutgers Display Gardens.
