The Painted Lady closely resembles the American Painted Lady. It is hard to tell the difference between the two when viewed from above. It's forewing isn't as contoured as the American Painted Lady's. It has lighter pink patches, and lacks a white dot on its forewing. Its hindwing has two additional, though smaller spots. I've only seen this butterfly a few times in my garden. It immigrates from Mexico and the Southwestern United States. |
