Pearly Everlasting is a native wildflower that begins blooming in late July. The emerging spring foliage is gray, turning to a dull green. This makes them look gray compared to the foliage other plants in the garden. The flowers look nice with the moon shining on them. This is another plant with stems that flop over when they get big. I trim them with hedge trimmers to keep them from getting too tall. This plant's roots will spread underground, sending up shoots as far as a foot from the main plant. These roots are shallow, and can be easily removed. American Painted Lady butterflies lay their eggs on this plant. |
