Aster novae-angliae - New england Aster

Aster novae-angliae - New england Aster "Hella Lacey"

The "Hella Lacey" variety of the New England Aster grows about 4' tall in my garden.  It blooms in the fall, attracting Monarch butterflies.  It needs to be supported, or else the stems will bend down to the ground.  Mine bloomed great the first three years I've had them, but since then they have been a major disappointment.  And now I have discovered why.  Those gosh darn groundhogs have been trampling them.  I moved one of the plants to my other garden bed last spring where it did great.  I will move the rest this year.  The plants need to divided every two years.
