Valerian is very easy to grow from seed, and blooms for three weeks in late spring. It has very attractive foliage, and the bright white flowers really stand out in the garden. The flowers can either give off a pleasing scent, or a foul odor, depending on the moisture of the soil. So, please don't curse the neighbor's cat when working around Valerian.
